Bigbury on Sea, a community with a long, sandy beach (surf school, cafe), which stretches to Burgh Island, is only three miles distant. Both the Pilchard Inn on the island and the South West Coast path are worthwhile stops. A little further out, at the head of the extensively creeked Kingsbridge Estuary (which may be reached by boat), the traditional market town of Kingsbridge is home to a variety of independent stores, cafes, restaurants, art galleries, and antique stores.
