Description

Completely renovated, set into the thousand year old walls of this historic hill-top town, the building has two separate apartments with terraces, balconies, garden and two acres of olive and fruit trees. Currently it is let year-round giving an excellent return on investment with more than 50 five star reviews. The town was recently chosen as one of the most beautiful in Italy - i borgi piu belli d'Italia with its old town - centro storico - intact.

Accommodation

While the historic proportions of the town have been carefully preserved, all the essential modern conveniences are there also - super-fast fibre optic internet, piped natural gas, excellent water and electric supply, daily refuse collection and street cleaning, public transport links to surrounding towns, cafes, restaurants, bars, shops, pub, museum, civic centres, post office, bank, police, local administration, schools, museum, weekly markets.

Features

The house with its terracotta tiled roof has vaulted ceilings in one of the apartments and terracotta brick barrel vaulted ceilings in the second. Entrance is from the stone paved street through a courtyard while the back looks out over a mesmerising landscape of hills of wheat, olive, vines and fruit trees. There are a number of cantina traditionally used for storing oil, wine etc and there are some additional rooms that could be developed as a third apartment.

Directions

Matera, nearby is now bulging with visitors thanks in large part to its being European Capital of Culture in 2019. Irsina is benefiting from its proximity though has none of the mass-tourism of its more famous neighbour. Bari airport is just an hour away, as are the beaches of the Ionian with those of the Adriatic and Mediterranean a little further. Skiing, when there is snow, is also little more than an hour away. The owners (Irish) bought another property in the town which they are currently finishing renovating as it will be their permanent home. The legal and technical expertise necessary to purchase with confidence is available locally and has an excellent proven record.
